Welcome to the Glendale Unified School District Magnet & FLAG Programs 2020-2021 Online Application

To begin a new application, create an account below. If you have already started an application, or would like to make changes to your unsubmitted application, you can login to your account using your email and password. You may not be eligible for all programs listed due to your child's current grade or age. You will be alerted in this case and may not be able to continue the application for that program. Contact the office of Student Support Services for assistance at 818 241-3111 ext. 1283.

You may select up to three elementary programs, please only apply to programs you are truly interested in attending.

Separate applications for siblings and twins who are appying must be submitted.

If you are applying for 7th grade at Roosevelt STEAM Academy Magnet, please look below to know if you need to apply for Roosevelt through this application.

Only eligible applications submitted during the application window will be included in the lottery. All late applications will be placed on a waiting list.

Roosevelt STEAM Academy Magnet is only accepting applications for 7th grade for the 2020-2021 school year.

If you do not live in the Roosevelt boundaries and want to attend for 6th or 8th grade for 2020-2021, you will need to apply for a permit at gusdpermits.com starting on March 1, 2020.

Do I need to apply for Roosevelt STEAM Academy Magnet for 7th grade through this application?

  • Student is a current Roosevelt Student - NO
  • Student lives in the Roosevelt attendance area (find this information at www.gusd.net/streetfinder) - NO
  • Student attends an elementary school that feeds into Roosevelt - NO
  • Student attends Cerritos or Edison Tech Magnets - NO (if attending on an interdistrict permit, a new permit will need to be obtained)
  • Student is currently enrolled at Muir or Franklin in FLAG Spanish program - NO
  • Student is currently enrolled at Franklin in FLAG German program- NO

  • Student lives outside of the Roosevelt attendance area (including students who live outside district boundaries)* - YES
  • Student is currently enrolled at Edison in the FLAG Spanish program - YES
  • Student would like to be assessed to join the FLAG German or Spanish programs at Roosevelt as a 7th grader (and is not currently enrolled in the elementary programs) - YES

* Students who live outside of the Glendale Unified School District can also apply and will need to obtain an interdistrict permit if selected through the lottery.

What are Magnet and FLAG Programs?

GUSD Magnet Schools offer students unique, theme based educational experiences in academically rich and culturally diverse environments.

The Glendale Unified School District (GUSD) offers dual immersion programs in seven languages. The goal is that participating students develop high levels of language proficiency and literacy in both English and the target language.
